EV Pole Chargers
Pole mounted EV chargers for kerbside charging have been installed or operated in Australia by EV networks including AGL, Chargefox, ChargePost, CitiPower-Powercor-United Energy (“CPU”), EVX Australia, Everty, Exploren and Origin Energy.

The terms EV pole charger, or pole mounted EV charger, refer to an EV charging unit installed on an electricity pole or a light pole at the side of a road or parking area.

AGL kerbside chargers have been installed in NSW since 2025. Models of pole chargers now include those by Landis+Gyr and Connected Kerb (Beny). The majority of AGL pole chargers are single socket, but in June 2026 AGL started dual installations,  placing two charging units on a single power pole.

Chargefox has several pole chargers in Bondi Beach NSW, as part of a trial with the local Council, using Jetcharge AC Chargemate ports.

ChargePost has installed pole chargers in the Sydney region. The ChargePost pole chargers are dual socket and may be activated by tapping the credit card reader or using the ChargePost app.

CitiPower-Powercor-United Energy (“CPU”) pole-mounted electric vehicle chargers are being installed at locations in Victoria, by Citipower Powercor United Energy group. CPU pole chargers may be activated through the apps of Zuup Roam, Chargefox and Wevolt.

Everty kerbside pole mounted EV chargers include those by Landis+Gyr and ABL. A recent program was during 2025, when Essential Energy with Electric Future installed pole chargers in several regional council areas of NSW and chose Everty as the EMSP. AGL acquired Everty in January 2025.

EVX Australia Polechargers have been installed in NSW and Victoria since 2022, using the EVX Polecharger designed and built by EVX in Australia. EVX Australia Polechargers are integrated dual socket units. EVX Australia describes and shows the installation and maintenance of their polechargers on their Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/evxaustralia?igsh=MjhmNmJ0c2p5aml1

Exploren pole mounted EV chargers have been installed in NSW since early 2021. Charger models include Ocular (EVSE Australia) or Intellihub (Schneider Electric) streetside EV chargers, using existing power pole infrastructure. The Intellihub project commenced in 2021 resulted in 50 EV chargers installed on existing power poles in New South Wales. A project using Beny pole charging units, supplied by Connected Kerb, installed by Electrifying Assets Pty Ltd , commenced in 2026 with the install of 47 Pole mounted EV chargers in the NSW council areas of Parramatta, Penrith and The Hills. (Electrifying Assets Pty Ltd is owned by EF Assets Pty Ltd, owned by Electric Future Holdings Pty Ltd).

Origin 360 EV, Origin Energy’s charging network, has kerbside pole charging, one location is at Curl Curl in NSW.

AC Kerbside Towers
AC kerbside charging includes freestanding towers mounted beside the kerb, as well as chargers mounted on power poles or light poles.

DC Kerbside Charging
DC kerbside charging has been installed by networks such as Jolt, Exploren, Yurika, NRMA and Tesla, who have installed kerbside fast chargers along streets at many urban and remote rural locations.

Type 2 Cable I carry and use a 22kw 32A 3Phase Type 2 Cable. There are different strengths of cable, 7kw or 22 kw. For Tesla you need the 22 kw 32A 3Phase cable. The 7.5m length is enough for most pole chargers that I use. https://shop.tesla.com/en_au/product/mennekes-type-2-adapter—7_5m
