Non Networked EV Chargers
There are also several hundred EV charging locations that are not part of a network.

361 locations are non networked free charging sites, including 341 AC sites and 20 DC sites.*

The free non networked EV chargers installed and provided by businesses for their customers and are not part of any network. These individual installs are usually free of charge as part of the guest or customer experience offered by the business.
*As at Feb 2026. This number is conservative as only non networked sites, marked as Free in PlugShare, were added to the list. Therefore 361 is a minimum number. The Filter parameters were: PlugShare using the Networks filter for only "Other", plus the filters "Free", "Type 2" and "CCS2" with "hide restricted" and "coming soon" both off. Stations that appeared inactive were not counted. Stations which listed a network in the network field were not counted.Businesses who have installed AC or DC chargers with card payment terminals, but not joined a network, were not counted.

Other EV network locator apps

  • PlugShare app – Location of all chargers

PlugShare app is a key app as it shows locations of most EV charging networks, non networked chargers and home chargers, reviews on their status, an alert system to notify of reviews, a trip planning function, ability to filter for charger speed, filter for AC or DC, filter for chargers at accommodation venues, ability to see chargers restricted to guests and to see chargers comming soon. Download PlugShare from Apple or Google Play. PlugShare is owned by EVGo Inc.

Tips on using PlugShare Filters are available here. PlugShare also provides a single payment portal called Pay With PlugShare, which EV charging networks can join if they wish https://help.plugshare.com/hc/en-us/articles/7678161142035-Get-started-Pay-with-PlugShare I am not aware of any Australian networks joining Pay With PlugShare yet or what fees are involved to join. Australian EV networks currently choose to retail direct to their customers through app, RFID, credit card reader or QR code.
  • ABRP A Better Routeplanner app, in Apple or Android, is a locator and route planner app.  ABRP is owned by the US company Rivian Automotive, Inc.  ABRP website is https://abetterrouteplanner.com/
