EV Pole Chargers
Pole mounted EV chargers for kerbside charging have been installed or operated in Australia by networks including Exploren, EVX Australia, AGL EV, Chargefox, Everty, Origin Energy and Citipower.

The terms EV pole charger, or pole mounted EV charger, refer to an EV charging unit installed on an electricity pole or a light pole at the side of a road or parking area.

EV pole chargers require the driver to bring their own Type 2 charging cable with them. The pole chargers may be single phase or 3 phase and a 3 phase cable will suit both types. A 3PH 22kW 32A cable will suit most EVs and a length of 5 to 7.5 metres will suit most pole charger locations. If the EV’s charging point is on the driver’s side of the vehicle, the longer cable may be needed.

AGL kerbside chargers have been installed in NSW since 2025. Models of pole chargers now include those by Landis+Gyr and Connected Kerb (Beny). The majority of AGL pole chargers are single socket, but in June 2026 AGL started dual installations, placing two charging units on a single power pole. https://evlog.net.au/ev-charging-networks-in-australia#agl

Everty kerbside pole mounted EV chargers include those by Landis+Gyr and ABL. A recent program was during 2025, when Essential Energy with Electric Future installed pole chargers in several regional council areas of NSW and chose Everty as the EMSP. In June 2026 a large number of entries were observed on PlugShare in NW Sydney labelled as “Electric Future Kerbside Charger (Coming Soon)” and “Plus ES Kerbside Charger (Coming Soon)”. It’s assumed Electric Future Holdings Pty Ltd and Plus ES are the infrastructure companies installing these pole chargers but name of EMSP who will provide the retail interface with customers is not yet shown on PlugShare.

AC kerbside charging includes freestanding towers mounted beside the kerb, as well as chargers mounted on power poles or light poles.
