Roles in EV Charging Networks include:

  • Infrastructure providers, who build, sell or install Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)
  • Electricity network and energy companies, who provide the grid connection / solar and battery for the installations.
  • Charge Point Operators, (CPO), who own/operate and maintain EV charging stations, and their energy supply. They manage the installation, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • EV Charging site hosts, (Host) businesses or institutions that decide to host/fund an EV charging site and contract with a CPO to provide and manage the site for them.
  • e-Mobility Service Providers (EMSP), provide the retail interface between the CPO’s EV chargers and EV drivers. EMSPs provide platforms, apps and RFID cards, that drivers use to find and activate EV chargers, to pay and receive receipts. EMSPs don’t own the chargers. They provide services known as roaming, where you can use one eMSP to access multiple different CPO companies’ chargers.
  • Electric Vehicle Service Providers (EVSP) who provide end-to-end EV charging services.

The networks listed on this site often perform one or more roles in EV Charging such as EVSE, CPO, Host, EMSP or EVSP.
